The Best Time to Plant a Tree: My 90 day Nerium Eye Serum Challenge

My 46th Birthday
Face Paint by Popo the Clown

I don’t know about you, but the changes to my appearance mid-life are driving me crazy! Planning on living to a ripe old age with Prince Charming doesn’t mean I want my face, neck, and chest to over-ripen as we go! My three areas of complaint are the under-eye area, my neck, and most recently, my chest.

My birthday fell on Father’s Day this year and Charming threw me an impromptu party after Farmers Market. My awesome friend and designer (MJM Interior Design), Johnny Moallempour, is also a Nerium representative. As a birthday present, he gave me their  Eye-V Moisture Boost Hydrogel Patches and a few samples of their Age-Defying Eye Serum in a cute little travel bag. Thank you, Johnny!

Charming said after the first day or two that he saw results of the eye serum. I’ve decided to give it a solid go for at least one month. I figured what better way to document the journey than right here in my new blog which tackles fears, parenting, life, and… wrinkles!

Before we go any further, I would like to make it clear I do not work for Nerium or Johnny Moallempour. I did receive these gifts for free as a birthday present and my choice to share the journey is part of my dedication to making this blog helpful as a resource to other aging beauties.

So, what is Nerium?

I remember being invited to a party in 2011. It was a new product, just being introduced to the United States. I remember watching the sales video and thinking it was an amazing product, almost too good to be true! Starting to get serious about my voiceovers at that time, there were not extra hours in the day to dedicate to starting a whole new business, as great as it sounded.

That was right about the time I noticed the wrinkling in the neck area right below my chin. What the heck is that? Now I wish, if the products are as good as promised, that I had started the regimen right then! But, as the old Chinese proverb says…

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

Nerium gets its name from the plant it gets its antioxidants from, Nerium Oleander. This extract is the “age-defying” ingredient fueling their limited line of products. Some of the conditions the lotions and potions promise to correct are:

  • Cellulite
  • Loose skin
  • Wrinkles & fine lines
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Texture
  • Skin damage
  • Large pores
  • Rosacea
  • And vitality

Nerium ProductsNow everyone’s skin is different. If it doesn’t work for me for some reason, it may still work for you. Obviously, the opposite of that is true as well. The best thing to do is try it for yourself! Some might think it’s expensive. Personally, I’ve been spending $60-100 every month trying to find one product that works. In the budget or not, I’m willing to pay for my skin’s longevity. If you would like to order any of their products, he gave me a web page for you to order from www.catsmithvoices.nerium.com If you do decide to try their products, I’d love if you’d post comments and experiences in the comments as I post new blogs!

I have in the past taken prescription medications internally and externally, as well as had laser treatments, for Acne Rosacea. My skin is uneven at best. The chest area damage can be blamed not only on age but also sun exposure I’m sure. And as I mentioned, age is showing in my neck and under-eye areas. Let’s see what is improved in a month’s time and whether or not I am actually defying my new age of 46!

Day One Before Pictures (Please note that smiling and not smiling makes a difference so I did both ways even though they said to use a relaxed face.)

This is smiling, face forward, no make-up Day 1

Before Nerium with Makeup
This is Day 1 with makeup and I wanted to show how the wrinkles are maybe even more apparent this way and that you can still see discoloration coming through.
